Description

Flow States examines the transformative qualities of nature and its impact on two artists’ practices. Meredith Pardue and Lucrecia Waggoner each carry deep reverence for the earth and their unique methods demonstrate how similar influences can manifest in vastly different outcomes. At the crux of Meredith Pardue’s artistic expression lies a strong connection with nature and the desire to mirror the beauty of the natural world. Each painting develops as an “unplanned conversation” until the canvas overflows with layers of texture and color. From here, the composition is tempered into her signature biomorphic forms, the final harmony molded from its raw beginnings. Through improvised exchanges between artist and material, Pardue channels the chaos of the unknown into tactile masses of color, evocative of coral, stones, or untamed fauna.
