I AM THE MOON

CAVE:  60" X 108" MIXED MEDIA ON CANVAS © MEREDITH PARDUE 2021

"Meredith Pardue’s current solo exhibition, I Am the Moon, is rooted in humankind’s relationship to our moon and the rituals and inherent mystery that this relationship has inspired throughout human history.  The color palettes of these paintings range from moody, dark monochromes to explosive saturation. The mark making in this body of work spans brushwork reminiscent of mid-century abstract expressionist painting to raw, primitive mark making most boldly evident in the dramatic asymmetrical diptych titled Cave.  There are also a few compositions with pod like forms that seem to undulate around, within, and beyond the parameters of the canvas in what has become Pardue's signature aesthetic over the last decade.  I Am the Moon will be on view at Laura Rathe Fine Art in Houston April 1-30 in the River Oaks District location at 4444 Westheimer Road.  Pardue will open a second solo exhibiiton titled I am the Sun at Laura Rathe Fine Art Dallas May 15."
